Why Singapore? Why not?
So you are probably wondering why I choose to study abroad in Singapore, well after hours and hours of research on international universities, study abroad programs, countries, currencies, cultures, career opportunities, and activities, the decision ended up being very easy.
It all started after I had received an email from SDSU about a study abroad session later that evening about an international student program in Singapore. I had been very interested in studying abroad, but I had yet to decide on a program that could offer me the experience I was looking for. Basically, all I knew was that I wanted a unique adventure in a culture very different from the one I have known my entire life. Anyways, I head over to information session straight after my finance class and with not much knowledge of Singapore. During that single hour on Nanyang Technological University (NTU) I was sold on the incredible university, but I wanted to know more about Singapore and the surrounding countries.
I left the information session and spent some time researching what opportunities awaited for me in South East Asia. I learned Singapore, a small city state north of Indonesia and south of Malaysia, was actually the center of international business as a result of its unrivaled geographic location, close ties to the U.S., melting pot of Asian cultures and it’s hard working people. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to physically immerse myself into what I was being taught in the classroom back in San Diego. I couldn’t have chosen a better time to travel to Asia than right now while the world is going through so many economic changes allowing me to see and experience them first hand.
Singapore here I come!!!
